“Beholding lotus in Baiyangdian for five days, fragrance of lotus coming into your dreams at night”, this is the sentence made left by poet Lu Jishan of Ming Dynasty when visiting lotus in Baiyangdian, and even now the poem is in good taste. Watching lotus in the daytime with great interest, fragrance of lotus coming into dreams at night, this can be said the classic poem. Lotus in Baiyangdian is the best in north China, winning high favor from people all over the world. So Anxin county committee and government invested 36.6million yuan in building this Grand Lotus Garden covering 2000 mu in the lotus shallow lake for making full use of Baiyangdian’s lotus.
The Grand Lotus Garden’ s subject matter is seeing and viewing lotus. The Garden gathers 216 kinds of lotus together all over the country, and among them there are 156 famous and precious breeds and 60 wild breeds, changing the old actuality of only having few kinds of breeds among Baiyangdian’s lotus. It is designed to receiving 4,000 to 5000 tourists, and has become the largest and most complete lotus exhibition base in our country presently. The Garden consists of “five regions and one pool”, the middle region is the famous and precious lotus visiting area with being planted 156 rare breeds from home and abroad; the east region is the sightseeing area from a high view with being established sightseeing hill on which there are bowers and fishing area at the foot of the north hill and beach natatorium in the south; the south region is leisure area for holidays with villa suit; the west region is the service area being equipped with a street of watery plant goods and berth dock; the north region is food and beverage area with long corridor of matching foods and meals, and zoology bower; “one pool” refers to the one thousand mu lotus pool in the middle of the Grand Garden on which there are 60 kinds of lotus being planted here, and there are float bridge, arch bridge and trestle with the total length of 1,560 meters. Beside these, there are 20 viewing bowers besetting on the pool, and 48 leisure bays for tourists boating and paddling. The gentle fragrant wind affects people deeply intoxicating in it and the variety kinds of lotus array glittery before eyes.
