Baiyangdian has elegant scenery, and is prolific of many magnificent products, also is a remarkable place producing outstanding personalities.
With a long historical standing, Baiyangdian came into being about 10,000 years ago. Baiyangdian is noted as one of the world famous place in the beautiful scenery and comfortable climate, attracting many scholars and literators, and officials and dignitaries visiting here. They wrote down plentiful poems and poetic essays, leaving a lot of stories for us. For example, emperor Zhudi in Ming Dynasty, emperor Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong in Qing Dynasty all came to Baiyangdian repeatedly.

Baiyangdian in Anxin county is an old revolutionary region. During the Anti-Japanese War, Goose Plume Possecomitatus—a water guerilla being up and doing in Baiyangdian—composed one and another great songs of Anti-Japanese and saving the nation, steering boats in reed marshes and struggling on the boundless shallow lake making use of the vantage ground.
Literature works with Baiyangdian as the subject matter became famous all over the world. Mu Qing’s , Sun Li’s and Xu Guangyao’s are all based on Baiyangdian, and this is well known. The famous writers, such as Sunli, Liang Bin, Yuan

Qianli, Xu Guangyao, Yang Mo, Mu Qing, Kong Jue, Yuan Jing and so on, all lived and fighted here. Their works are fresh and clean with dense smell of native soil and distinct epoch character. In Sun Li’s , we can see valiant fighters ambuscading enemy’s steamboats wearing lotus leafs on their heads, and also Shui Sheng’s Wife bathing fresh fragrant of lotus. These have become memorable images, and “Lotus Shallow Lake School—an import literature school in China was born here. Kong Jue and Yuan Jing’s describes stories about Anti—Japanese heroes, inspiring one generation and another young men. The image of “Little Solder Zhang Ga> and other heroes are all loved by us portrayed by Xu Guangyao. The famous writer Liu Shaotang, Cong Weixi, and etc., are all the backbone writers of “Lotus Shallow Lake School>. Literature works with the Anti-Japanese War as their subject matter molded a literary epoch’s resplendence of Baiyangdian, and has become a beautiful and special sight in our literary history.
The four seasons in Baiyangdian have too many beautiful things with their own special sceneries. In spring, purple reeds peep through the soil, and they will gradually turn green from purple after being blowed by spring wind under sun shining. Now white sails blend with the dark green being full of life and beauty. During the midsummer days, lotus is in full blooming, the green reeds set off the fishing villages, birds are flying and fish are springing, frogs are drumming and cicadas are ringing, and a picture of natural scene of Baiyangdian is unfolding before us. When autumn coming, the water becomes clearer, pieces of reed marshes spit out purple reed flowers, and fragrant of rice wafts up from the bank. Reeds slightly joggled in the autumn wind, the water is green, the sky is blue, and all these form a natural and clean atmosphere. Here is a water-bound village and a land of milk and honey in the north. In midwinter, the whole Baiyangdian forms thick ice, people punt ice cars on the smooth and flat ice surface coming and going, and skating and walking here, people enjoy the fun of nature with abandon. The fishermen break the ice and catch fish by all manner of ways, and the caught fish flipping on the ice. If you stand on the boundless ice surface when snowing, you can experience the North Country scene of “A hundred leagues locked in ice, A thousand leagues of whirling snow”(coming from a poem of Chairman Mao).
